Catechesis / Religious Education
Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted, generally speaking, in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life. In the Ukrainian Catholic Church, catechists are typically trained in the art of “catechesis” or religious education. In some parishes, laypersons are responsible for the catechetical program under the direction of the local parish pastor. The pastor, deacons, or religious sisters may also direct the parish catechetical program. The primary catechists for children are their parents or the programs offered by the parish community.
